I had a chat with the conservative mom of a friend today. We talked about a bunch of stuff and I learned several interesting things, among them, that religious conservatives are often PRO-CHOICE AND THINK THE SUPREME COURT IS INSANE. Run on Dobbs. Run on justices and court reform. Do it.

Periodic reminder: What you see on social media is an algorithm-curated echo chamber. Those who shout loudest typically get amplified the most, regardless of whether they’re right. The real work takes place offline. If you’re getting stressed out by today, take a break, focus on what you can do.

I read Weinstein got his reversal basically because the prosecution violated the Molineaux rule against using past uncharged alleged crimes as evidence. In PoSNY v. Trump, didn't the admitted evidence directly support the allegations, not merely describe separate acts by defendant? TY

1/ I’m quoted in USA Today on the chances for Former President Trump on appeal of his 34 felony convictions in New York. ———- Merchan's pre-trial rulings on what evidence was allowed to be presented could be grounds for appeal, especially given a New York appellate decision during the trial . . .

There are growing concerns within the former president's camp that the two-minute time limit for answers combined with the candidate's mic being muted when it is not their turn will prove difficult for Trump who is known to ramble.

the main reason to get married is to have someone to listen to you as you periodically recap the plot of a movie you're watching in the style of a henry hill voiceover. the less like goodfellas it is, the better. dune's a good one. you can usually go ~15 seconds before being told to shut the fuck up

Then they interview a bunch of Democratic operatives, pundits, and writers. And all of them say some variant of “yeah this place has declined. It’s a zombie site. But no other site has filled the gap yet, so I’m still puttering around here.” That’s not much of a “Twitter is back!” story.

In 2022, the total spent on digital political ads was ~$9 BILLION. The vast majority of that was on Google and Facebook. Twitter has always been a minor player. $1 million of aggregate ad spending is not a lot. It means some consultants said “let’s toss a few bucks at X and see what happens.”
