I took the time earlier today to write to the Washington Post to let them know that if they get involved with the machine learning known as "AI" I would be immediately cancelling my subscription and would not trust their articles ever again. Been a subscriber for years.
I have some cash lately, so I've just been subscribing to publications whenever I get the least bit curious. Texas Monthly is pretty fun, really into Range, from the area where I grew up.

the buzzfeed news got me kind of excited because, unless my math is wrong, he got 7.7% and controlling interest for “just” about $4m. there’s been a lot of journos here talking about buying a small dying media property, but maybe control of bigger ones would be a better goal?

The paper had existed since the 1970s. No one knows who the buyer is.
It's almost like legalizing unlimited media consolidation under Clinton and the institutionalization of for-profit news divisions, rather than having it be a public service that operates as a loss leader, has led to the collapse of the fourth estate. Trust is gone, and so is the audience.
