This ruling will create new incentives for breaking & entering, since it's sleeping "in public" that's being outlawed. If you can get inside a building, you're no longer "in public."
It was already legal to fine someone for sleeping on a sidewalk if you had an adequate shelter for them to move to, this whole case was about the cruelty

Well you see, the Supreme Court is currently dominated by originalists, and the original function of the Supreme Court was to maintain the power of the slaveocracy.
It's starting to look like the rich fucks in charge were annoyed that they weren't getting a steady revenue stream from homeless people the same way they do everyone else, so now you've got to pay rent even if you literally have nowhere else to sleep than the cold ground outside.

I find it ironic because at this point, between how expensive the prison system is per-prisoner and all the work and personnel that go into upholding these laws and rules... it'd be cheaper to just house all these people.

IF they go to a shelter, they can't bring their things inside, or pets. Our shelter allows a family one box for all their stuff. Children can't sleep with their parents because they separate children and adults.
But if you DO have kids with you, you jump to the front of the waiting list for housing.
