Roberts rules for Trump. Absolute immunity for “official acts.” Vacated and remanded. Party line case. Both Sotomayor and Jackson dissent. Fuck this. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/23p...
Remember in March, when the majority aggressively answered a lot more questions than necessary to ensure no one could keep Trump off the ballot? And now they answer only a very small question and remand the rest to further delay his actual trial?
So, two out of the 6 are hopelessly corrupt and had prejudged the case. 3 others were appointed by the guy they now shield from prosecution. The 6th is Roberts, who gets his own exhibit in the museum that will eventually be built on ashes.
Okay, it’s absolute immunity for official acts that are “within [the president’s] exclusive and preclusive authority” and presumptive immunity for all official acts. Corrupting the DOJ — absolute immunity (which boggles my mind). Pressuring Pence — presumptive immunity.
And now we get to sing and dance about what constitutes an "official act."
Uh, I'm going out on a limb here but I'm FAIRLY sure taking and storing under secrecy thousands of restricted documents inside a posh mansion is probably not "official".
Let's see what the lower courts say about that.
