JUST IN: Polls closed in France. Exit polls show surprise:
—Left coalition (New Popular Front) projected first. (!)
—Far-right (RN) has lost its bid to take power. Anti-RN front appears to have worked very well.
—No bloc close to majority.

Also, expansion content, ugh. I kind of want to go back to calling them mission packs.

I tracked down both volumes of GAME CREATOR RETSUDEN, which have, umm, slightly dramatized versions of the creation of Virtua Fighter 1-3, Derby Stallion, and Biohazard, among others. If you dig deep into the old Japanese game industry rumor mill...(Continued)

Breaking my social media hiatus while my wife gets ready to go out (cue: Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, but performed by someone I actually like, Godspeed or Full of Hell or, I dunno, Ride).

Shadow of the Erdtree is my favorite bit of expansion content since Blood & Wine. Like that, it condenses and refines the base game into its purest form, just banger after banger after banger of an experience.

My favorite quest has been “how far down can I go?”
Far.
What’s down there?
Scary.

That’s about half of Erdtree’s major stuff done by my estimation. This expansion is an absolute joy to just explore, even more than the original.
It has something of the verticality, intricacy and spatial logic of an Arcane game, but at an immense scale.

You can learn that lesson the easy way or the hard way.

BREAKING NEWS: Washington Post runs 34585 story about Biden's mental fitness. I bet you didn't see this coming. And you'll be surprised when they run another one in 25 minutes.

I don’t want to generalize too much but the place I see the most hope right now is from those that have been fighting the hardest for the longest time. Extended doomerism can be a luxury not afforded to those who have the most to lose.

Enjoying being mostly offline. Getting the most sleep I’ve had in years, going for walks, playing Elden Ring.
Hope you all are well!

Returning to Elden Ring after so long has been really satisfying, the expansion is exactly what I wanted. Just put the Dancing Lion to bed, great boss and an excellent fight.

I feel like you could have a really dull, vaguely unpleasant evening while coked to the eyeballs here. Someone would put on their Maroon 5 live bootlegs. There would be overpriced vodka. People would keep talking about calling a car but none would ever arrive.

My hottest take is that transphobia has taken such a hold of the English because we’re small minded bullying assholes at heart and we love when media makes a target for us. It’s one of the reasons I left.

I hate Biden but the idea he will or even should step aside after a shitty debate performance nobody will remember a month from now is a desperate, flaccid attempt to manufacture consent from the most navel-gazing pundits on the face of the planet

Cruise was too straight for me in retrospect, but he has such intense charisma that it in the moment I totally got it. It’s that Tom Cruise thing where I find him kind of repellant and then watch a Cruise film on a plane or wherever and suddenly I am on the Tom train.

He’s reasonably charismatic and extremely handsome, but I see your post, he doesn’t have that white hot thing that Lestat had.
On the other hand, I cannot be mad at a hot guy named Sam.

Being irrationally mad about the season of Ray Donovan where Hank Azaria and his wife here swingers and characters were horrified that they had to sleep with his partner… played by Sherilynn Fenn, one of the most attractive people ever to act in anything.
What a waste of talent that show was.

The thing that's telling and exasperating about the centrist "Biden must drop out" calls is that... this was their guy! They act like the left insisted on him! But Biden was the guy they were saying Democrats should instead rally around when it looked like we might pick Bernie!
