Happy Disability Pride Month! According to the CDC, up to 1 in 4 people in the US have some kind of disability. We honor disability justice champions who won significant progress over many decades, as we continue the fight for better policies to create a more livable, accessible future for all.

My dad is 75 and has trouble finding words at times because of a silent stroke. But he's super smart & informed, and this issue doesn't reflect his decision-making capacity. Difficulty getting the right words out (if that's Biden's issue) is not the same as decreased executive functioning.

Right on. Also, find the networks and groups that exist in your community. Help strengthen them and then fill in the gaps.

What I've done so far to deal with this day:
- Gardened
- Had some chocolate with salted caramel
- Looked at period cottages on rugged coasts for peak daydreaming
- Opened a bottle of cava
- Signed up to send postcards to swing states
- Hugged my kid until she got annoyed

Me too! I just signed up to write 200 postcards. You can invite friends over to help and make a party out of it.

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

Well, gardening. But for a quick break at my computer I look up period homes for sale in England and France, like stone cottages in medieval villages, Elizabethan half-timbered lodges, and thatched roofs in the countryside. Then I can breathe.

Okay so to be clear we are destroying power grids, the livelihoods of actual humans beings, and communication/research infrastructure for the sake of an algorithm that converts stolen data into unreliable stolen data and consistently loses millions of dollars. Just to be clear

Politicians treat the Supreme Court the way they treat cops which is to say that they fund them, seem afraid of them, demand no accountability and allow them to act with complete impunity. Instead of disempowering them, it's some commissions, reports and shrugs.

After last week's massive protests and govt abductions of individuals, police are shooting people dead, and Kenya's parliament has been overrun.

"I am injured because someone else might do something that doesn't affect me but I won't like it" is the type of thing they don't even bother to teach in law school because such a person obviously doesn't have standing, but this is now routinely accepted for GOP causes, like banning mifepristone.

anyhow, not to be a party pooper, jokes are fine, I just want to say that the joy or sense of justice you might feel may not be anti-abolitionist. it may be the opposite: longing for an abolitionist world in which people like trump aren't empowered by institutions to harm with impunity. that's all.
