Nope, nopety nope. I forced myself to reread Cider before starting a writing course several years ago, needed to find a first person narrative to present and similarly blamed Lessons and thought I'd be a grown up and check. Child uses were absolutely right.

It's not very interesting: I just questioned my entire ability to read, let alone appreciate literature. Having loved the handful of other works I'd read, I thought I 'loved Murukami' but I loathed KotS with a violence previously only reserved for Cider With Rosie (forced school reading)
