So my girlfriend is French and hasn’t heard of Apollo 13 and so while we’re watching it she has no idea how it’s going to end. I am predicting she’s going to scream and cheer at splashdown
My favorite part is still when they dump the pile of crap on the table in front of the engineers and tell them "This is what they have on board. What can they make to keep themselves from dying?"
While your gf is invested in the outcome of the Apollo 13 flight, hundreds of randos are invested in the outcome of her watching the movie about the flight.
So wholesome. Keep it up everyone.
At least it’s a happy ending. My parents’ friends went to go see Into the Wild not knowing the ending and were like “It’s based on a true story, he had to get out, right?”
When I was a kid we watched this and I fell asleep before the end, so in the morning I asked my (older) sister how it ended and she told me they all died. There was no internet. I believed this for years.
I’m American (age 34) and I didn’t know if Apollo 13 was a success or failure when I first saw it.
At the time, I knew Apollo 1 was VERY bad and then kind of lost track which ones successfully went to the moon. 🤷🏻♀️
When we were vacationing on Cape Cod in 2000, we took our 12-year-old son to see The Perfect Storm at the theater in Wellfleet. He did *not* know how it was going to end. There was no cheering.
