I went to see the official Portland fireworks! I went to my usual place, the Hawthorne Bridge. Unfortunately a zillion boat clogged up the Willamette between the bridges so the fireworks barge set up on the south side of the bridge. Then, the barge went on fire. 🇺🇸🎆🎇🔥🇺🇸 #pdx

When not on crutches, only about 1/3 of those guys approached me. Waiting at a bus stop when I had crutches, it was close to 100% of them. On a bus, a guy actually tried to run over my foot with his scooter, the rest of the riders pretended not to notice me yelling at him to stop.

You’re right about your own experience, but as a woman who usually is walking by herself, it’s definitely not 99.9% feeling of safety. It was especially bad when I had a temporary disability and was on crutches and in a boot. I was definitely getting targeted and I could not run away if needed.
