We gotta have a conversation about how there are enough people who consume the news specifically to feel panicky and helpless that it's a viable business model for the New York Fucking Times

Over the past two weeks, the people who pay a ton of attention to politics have been arguing with each other about what people who pay very little attention to politics will do in four months. Meanwhile there's almost no information that could make that conversation anything more than speculation.

I’ve been away from the bird app for the most part for a week or so, and when I do open it I’m shocked at how bad it is. There’s something going on there and I’m not entirely convinced it’s organic. Like someone at Twitter HQ threw a switch to start surfacing the rage bait at an even higher rate.

I'm absolutely loving the mental image conjured by describing the behavior of the likes of John Roberts as "digging through the trash bins of history like racist raccoons looking for leftover oppression". Really wish I'd developed the skills to draw that.

It is September 15. Biden has declined to do 15 pushups for NYT. They are endorsing the abstract concept of Youth for President. Trump, just out of frame, is listing NYT columnists he intends to have Seal Team 6 assassinate

Reading a story about the election that casually referred to "Biden's slide in the polls" and it just remains remarkable to me that narrative reporters can just drop stuff like that into copy and never think twice about whether it has any basis in fact.

If the state polls we're seeing are true, it's not just a problem we need to address; we are genuinely, unrecoverably fucked. I don't believe them. I don't believe for a moment that Trump can win New York. If he can, we're talking Trump winning 400 EVs & an honest-to-God democratic mandate.

This deserves a quoteskeet because this will not be business as usual: this will be worse. In the event Biden drops out and Harris becomes the nominee, the republicans will launch a coordinated campaign of misogynist racism (misogynoir) against Harris, the likes of which we have never seen.
