In my neighborhood we have a LFL with tiny dog treats and a stern sign cautioning to only take one. A few blocks away there’s a bucket of big juicy treats with a sign TREAT YOUR DOG!! and the people who live there if they see you yell out “GRAB ANOTHER ON THE RETURN TRIP”! Post-scarcity mindset!

Walther is a far-right extremist who did indeed vote in 20 and 22.

I don't plan to watch tonight's debate, bc I'm not THAT self-loathing, even tho I'm sure crime and punishment will come up. So figured it couldn't hurt to toss up a short thread to put whatever claims they are likely to make in context. tl;dr: neither did/does/will do much to cause OR stop crime.

Is it me or is the framing at the end of the press release kind of “we’re befuddled by what’s wrong with these rural Black & Hispanic voters” that they haven’t changed voting habits. Perhaps easier to say this than the obvious discussion of rural white voters going all out racial caste politics

Every time I’m in Seattle I am immediately struck by the utter catastrophe that is I-5. It’s like they put together a commission tasked with how to best rip the heart out of the city and this is the pretty decent solution they came up with.

If anyone is interested, Kim Stanley Robinson’s novel Shaman is about a reluctant shaman “apprentice” who, in the fictional history of the novel, drew the series of horse heads. Like all KSR novels it’s beautiful and deeply humanistic.
