Wolf spiders are often named after other critters in the genus names too. Lycosa - wolf Pardosa - panther Alopecosa - fox Arctosa - bear Mustelicosa - weasel Crocodilosa, Tigrosa, Dingosa, Kangarosa are all pretty self explanatory

What keeps me here is family, friends, and incredible biodiversity. We have more species of salamanders in three counties in NC than anywhere in the world. There's temperate rainforest and biodiversity hotspots. The food is unbelievable. The oppression and mismanagement is a small part of most lives

Because it's amazing there?? Like maybe it is not for you but there are wonderful things about the southern states that keep many marginalized people happily housed and supported despite our dogshit government. I have genuinely never seen advocacy as fierce, tight-knit, and well organized as in SC.

More info from my pals at Freedom to Read SC on how this regulation was passed. It's underhanded and despicable, but friends in other hostile states: keep an eye out. We know the Heritage Foundation folks love to copy/paste both text and tactics to enact their anti-intellectual agenda
