A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles.
Thinking about that a lot.

I think a contested convention would be *great TV* and everyone would watch and have so much fun, I can't be the only one!

And as long as I'm here:
Abortion is healthcare.
But you do NOT have to be in crisis, healthcare or otherwise, to have the human right—the inalienable right, if you will—to autonomy in your person. The GOP's position is that 50% of Americans don't, in fact, have that right.

Eleven years ago, SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act in #ShelbyCounty, arguing that "things have changed" since the 1960s. Today, we know that things have changed since this ruling: namely, that the turnout gap exploded in formerly-covered places 1/n

Excited to introduce a project I've been working on for a long time: a thorough comparison of Biden and Trump on the issues. "The stakes, not the odds," to borrow from Jay Rosen.
The initial version has 6 topics, but I'll be adding more, as well as updating with new statements/policies. Gift link:

Congressional districts are also allocated by state, which undermines representation even beyond the Senate and EC. Like...Wyoming shouldn't even have a single district, but it can't go below 1 so it always will. States are antidemocratic.

I just fundamentally don't see how you can look at how states behave and come away thinking anything about it is good. For every safe haven state for us, there's five that are indistinguishable from religious fascism.

Without states there is no Senate. It's actually the worst part, not even the electoral college.
