Never mind that if Trump wins then he could just...nuke places. Or get that country's leader to acquiesce to his demands in order to avoid being nuked. The dude is uninterested in upholding alliances and agreements but very interested in power and retribution.

I don't understand the immunity case. Can Biden just, like, nationalize Twitter (or whatever other social media site) under the guise of "national security"? Seize Mar-A-Lago? Throw certain members of Congress who visited Moscow on a July 4 a few years ago in Gitmo? Etc.

Definitely had a vision of Biden arranging a meeting with John Roberts, holding a knife to Roberts' neck, and saying "this is totally legal thanks to you, assh*le! What fun!"

Yeah there was a lot of chaos for a long time. Eventually they got to democracy which was lost here and there. Versus, say, the Bolshevik Revolution which basically had some form of dictator for over a century since with no end in sight.

She appears unaware the giant uptick post-Roe in people, especially those with uteruses, getting permanently sterilized on purpose and often at great personal expense. Not every protest is people with handcrafted signs yelling for 2 hours in a carefully corralled area.

Going public with an experience like this is life-altering for a woman, so when you read these stories remember both the extraordinary amount of courage involved and also the likelihood that there are many others you’ll never hear.

One of the big problems with western society, especially the USA, is that doing the right thing ethically and making a lot of money usually involve opposite actions. And this week SCOTUS made that even more true.

As a non-historian, I kind of wonder how likely eg North Korea or Turkmenistan is, versus French Revolution. In fact, a revolution with a decent outcome seems more of a fluke than many many examples of authoritarian dictatorships lasting decades or even centuries.

Also can't use infrared at night if it stays near or above body temperature, or dogs if it's too hot because dogs are more sensitive to heat than human beings.

I totally agree! I just wish the responsibility were shared more equally and hope that more people who can get pregnant will insist that the people who can make them pregnant step up.

A reminder that people who can get pregnant having the type of intercourse that can make them so should be asking for funds from their partners that can make them pregnant. It really isn't fair for one person to shoulder this when the other person is the one adding risk.

59 years ago today, Griswold v. Connecticut guaranteed the right to birth control. Justice Thomas says the Supreme Court should "reconsider" that ruling. And this week, 38 GOP senators voted against the Right to Contraception Act. Republicans are coming for birth control.

I have an entire rant with several key points, but the gist is: Send Donald Trump to jail nothing bad will happen. There will be no riots, no demonstrations, nothing that can be done by the system or police or FBI or anyone to stop it. And once it happens, we’ll realize it was never scary.

That's /why/ he lies in the way that he does. It's not that he thinks the lie is true, it's that he doesn't think of lies and truth in the way normal people do. He thinks of reality as an extension of will, and his lies are an attempt to manifest a new (more favorable) reality into existence

While yes, dairy workers should be cautious and do what they can to protect themselves, dairy workers' supervisors should be facilitating their safety at work most of all. Easier to wear a mask when everyone is required to, and to shower out when everyone is given time and pay for that.

Probably more the patriarchy than the all-female household. The patriarchy warps everyone's emotional expression and relations, and under the patriarchy, women are expected to respond to men's emotions, which is why it probably feels more comfortable for you to talk to women.

I don't know where you live, but the US is already getting internal displacement. And saw this in the 1930s Dust Bowl, when ppl from Oklahoma and Texas moved to California. It didn't go well then, with mostly white US citizens becoming climate refugees. So yeah, not a good outlook at all.
