I think Biden is too old and shouldn't have run 5 years ago, but at this point it's too late to replace him. The election is 4 months away! If you replace him now, low-info voters are going to look at their ballot and see Former President Donald Trump and 3 people they don't recognize!

I briefly worked in (data entry) power compliance/regulation, and ERCOT is, like, criminally negligent. (Or, they would be if their grid crossed a state line. Since it's all within Texas, it doesn't count as "interstate commerce," and can't be held to the same federal regulations as everyone else.)

Yeah, it was supposed to open this spring, but the contractor in charge of the bridge cheaped out on the concrete, and ST just allowed them to do their own QC during the pandemic, so we didn't find out until like 2023. We had to demolish all of the pilings and start over. 😡

Very funny that the Times was so certain about the panic they were causing that they set up a little live update election-season scoreboard for it

I think biden was a weak candidate 5 years ago, he should have been thinking about his replacement 18 months ago, & at this point he's the best we have. You can't vet & promote a presidential candidate in 4 months! People *won't recognize the dem candidate's name* if Biden pulls out at this point!

I'm building out a Ruffian Rogue for a Pathfinder 2 Remastered game, and I am devastated to report that the optimal weapon layout is dual-weilding a Hammer & Sickle. (knockdown crit specialization, plus agile trip offhand)

To me, the appeal of SA was the consistently high-effort posting. You'd catch a suspension if the mods thought you were shitting up one of the (non-helldump) boards, and that meant that a lot of great, like illustrated CYOAs floated to the top. SA *invented* the lets-play, before streaming existed.

yeah, this would have been a great idea 5 years ago. or 12 months ago. it's too fuckin late now. It takes longer than 4 months to vet & promote a presidential candidate. if we drop Biden, like 20% of the country isn't going to know who the new guy is on election day!

Renaissance art wasn't conservative during the renaissance. It was often considered obscene, and especially prideful. Marlowe's Faust consorted with devils, and was cast in a redemptive frame, because he sought to improve himself. (Goethe's Faust went straight to hell!)

Say what you want about Nintendo but them being a video game company and not a tech conglomerate like Sony and Microsoft makes them far more immune to pressure from outsiders or out-of-touch execs who insist that “X is the future!”

About a week ago, Tractor Supply Company decided they were going to change a bunch of things to appeal to the far right. So far, this decision has hurt them financially. Let's keep it going! Farm friends: please share your recs for other good places to shop!

Toronado Seattle was a nearby bar with like 40 taps, constantly ran events & specials, and had a great kitchen. The owner, Matt Bonney, had run ops for 3 other beer bars in the area & was friends with all the local brewers. He had a heart attack in his sleep one night at like 50, absolute tragedy.

Don't they? I'd say we have pretty concrete evidence that Thomas, Roberts, and Kavanaugh don't see any ethical problem with accepting outlandish gratuities. (I forget if Alito has weighed in. To her credit, I believe that Barrett has remained silent on the "whether nazi bribes are good" controversy)

Yeah, it's totally above board to accept common gratuities, like plaques, framed photos, $13,000 in cash for "consulting services" that you never actually provided, or a meal out. You know, friendly, everyday exchanges between colleagues.
