A total ban is the only sane policy for Airbnb. There obviously needs to be accommodation in cities for visitors, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of housing units for people who actually live there. More governments should follow Barcelona’s lead.

you shouldn't feel stupid. you had no idea you weren't being generous, and he knows (at least now, if not then) that you were being generous with what you thought was something of yours.

This article mentions fear of arrest curbing the underlings. I think that is wrong. It would activate them to support extremes, because their real fear is accountability, which would be limited by their strong man's control.

if a president didn't want to use immunity as a way to stay in power, his followers would face prosecution after a transition, which would incentivize them to support a president who was as ruthless and arbitrary as needed to protect them, by never allowing a change of executive.

it isn't clear to me whether the trigger pullers would have criminal immunity. 'following orders' may not be covered. it seems to say that the directions of the exec are immune, meaning anyone could be prosecuted except the CinC. This is an even deeper threat than what has been feared.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to say the decision threatens the Republic. I might not have said so in 2015, before I saw how triumphantly lawless and autocratic the President could be, and how so many people would applaud it or at least shrug.

But we all must needs remember, this isn't a battle, its a long long war.
We need to take care of ourselves, and each other and protect so many.
