Here's what we're gonna do. Most of us. Instead of rage-posting memes and speculating about stuff we have no way to know or control. After today, here's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna plan for our most vulnerable friends and neighbors. We're gonna take care of the people on our left, & our right.

And arguably, journals with the word Equity in their titles should have exorbitant APCS!

Today I finished a conference paper and a book manuscript. Going for the trifecta, tried to submit an article only to be put off by an APC that is literally half of my yearly research/travel budget. When will public health journals realize that not everyone is grant-funded?!?!?

Yep. Some of us mask when in enclosed spaces with other people bc we are immunocompromised and don’t want to be sick all the time. And some of us have family members who love us and who mask to protect us. Please just let us be!!!

Looking for help: I'm interested in talking to interviewers or field directors for public opinion surveys in the 50s, 60s or 70s, particular people of color. I would be especially interested to talk to anyone who was involved on any level with the Data Black or GE Trendex surveys.

Like I don’t always/often agree with the tactics activist groups choose, which is why I’m not more of an in-the-streets activist. But I don’t for a second assume that they didn’t think about the tradeoffs of choosing one form or another of action.

Hilariously, they tried to fix the algorithm and got improvements for some disabilities, but no improvements for others. That is, for some disabilities, the biases are so deeply ingrained in our culture that these applications can't weed them out, even when trained on DEI.

Excited to introduce a project I've been working on for a long time: a thorough comparison of Biden and Trump on the issues. "The stakes, not the odds," to borrow from Jay Rosen.
The initial version has 6 topics, but I'll be adding more, as well as updating with new statements/policies. Gift link:

Aspirin for *primary prevention* of cardiovascular disease has been shown to cause more bleeding than benefit in randomized trials over the past 5 years. But it's still being taken by 1 of 3 older Americans.

Re-upping a request for hotels in New Orleans for a couple of nights. Targeting all the usual tourist stuff, French Quarter is probably the ideal, but am open to suggestions. Some of the party has mobility issues, so working elevators are a must. Thanks in advance!

I’m in the process of applying for disability for long COVID right now. 1. I have been waiting over a year for a hearing. In that time, I have been sent over 120 pages of forms that are near impossible to fill out with cognitive difficulties. They’re intended to weed people out.
