He thought “those environmentalists” were making farming impossible. I argued we were saving their lives as well as their farms. I have been climbing literally my children’s entire lifetime—more than fifty years. Their father and I met working for environmental issues. 🙏🏻 for the reminder.

Thank you. I might have discounted this as overly optimistic but for your endorsement and multiple quotes throughout the piece. We who are slogging up that mountain in our local communities need reminders like this. I remember arguments with my brother-in-law in 1972 over farmers’ use of DDT.
