I live every day stunned that the guy who killed more Americans than anyone in history besides Jefferson Davis AND attempted a violent coup on national television AND suborned US foreign policy to his own electoral interests badly enough to get impeached for it AND

Like don't get me wrong, I love the DNC and the people who work there. There's some absolutely extraordinarily smart people who go under appreciated as they solve really hard problems. But the chasm between the actual DNC and "The DNC" is the size of the Pacific Ocean.

Also, all the rules about all of these processes are written, lawyered, rewritten, voted on, rewritten some more, etc. to death over the course of 4 years, and in the end rarely have any actual impact.

People's vision of political parties, and the DNC, is this weird monolith dictating how campaigns must work. The DNC is a services provider staffed by a lot of hard working folks who slowly develop alcohol problems.

It's the fact that I've worked in politics for the last 20 years that I forget that people think the public comment scenes on Parks & Rec were just funny asides, and not an extraordinarily accurate reflection of how local parties and committees actually work. Now multiply that by 50 states...

Sen. Inhofe delayed climate action for years and personally harassed climate scientists to try to bully them into silence. His legacy is based on lies and should be a source of shame on par with Joe McCarthy’s.

What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

The far right cope machine is already trying to manufacture a narrative about the massive loss the French fascists faced today. They are scared they can sense what’s coming to America and it’s not fascism. Popular fronts win and scare fascists. Keep them on the back foot they are weak and scared.

A widely predicted victory for the far right in France has instead turned into a victory for the left *because people turned out in record numbers to vote.* Defeat is not inevitable and more progressive elected officials means more progressive policies.

6 years ago my wife and I went out for our anniversary to Mirabelle near the White House. Stephen Miller walked in. We debated sending him a bad drink courtesy of “Jake Tapper” or just pouring something on him but decided not to make it “the anniversary where we went to jail.” In retrospect…

An aspiring dictator & convicted felon w history of treason may win the presidency. Profoundly corrupt SCOTUS justices undermined the constitution and gave him immunity from prosecution for past & future crimes. This is all political journalists should be writing about 24/7. We’re at the precipice.
