Said it before, but I think the fact that we could have a *war in Mexico* if Trump is reelected should probably feature more prominently in campaign coverage and Biden's case against him.
Sadly, I think you overestimate the decency and strategic thinking ability of the American people. For many, even the swing voters we need to reach, this would not be a persuasive reason to not vote for Trump. "The cartels are a problem, of course we should use the military against them." 🙃🙃🙃
We have been fueling Mexican border violence for over 20 fucking years. It is not like Biden is a poster child for detante on this. Hell his fucking Biden plan under Obama for the Northern Triangle was some of the biggest fuel to the fire on all of this.
Tbh that's one of his less nuts ideas. If people are dying because of fentanyl from drug lords in Mexico that seems like a valid thing to go after. Offering to cooperate with the Mexican government but not giving them the power of veto seems reasonable. But it wasn't trumps brainchild.
Trump’s Fake Chinese tariff war for his family to grift trademarks cost American taxpayers $80 billion to bailout “corporate”farmers but overall cost upwards of $300 Billion .. also #Mexico is one of the top importers of American goods!!
And maybe the Hispanic folks flirting with voting for Trump because they’re different from the new undocumented migrants ought to ask folks like @georgetakei.bsky.social how that argument worked out for Japanese Americans in 1942.
I am sorry. But the front page of the NYT is full with another Biden Old story.
No room for a president that wants to start a racist war against Mexico because they said something mean about him.
His plan is to use military force to extort Mexico to pay for his border wall. And there's a significantly above zero chance that he'll have the chance to execute that plan.
Absolutely incredible.
Tried to put together a joke about “of course Alamo car rental is backing him” but looks like they’re more interested in congressional reps. www.opensecrets.org/political-ac...
@kevinmkruse.bsky.social@ryanlcooper.com In all seriousness, tweets *calling for* pieces about this get more RTs than actual pieces about it do. I did a stand-alone piece *interviewing the former Mexican ambassador to the US* about all this and nobody cared.
