It put my carry-on luggage over the Koru Lounge allowance! If this continues I’ll need a private jet to fly. With a network of private lounges.

Yes, so much. I was already angry, and the BS and minimisation around this just tipped me over.

In 2016 Social Development Minister Tolley said there was no evidence of systemic abuse in care. I wrote about this back then (below).
This week, the Mental Health Minister did not read the report and the PM thinks that questions about that are 'unfair'. <SIGH>

In great news: heroic scenes at Auckland Council, with a near-unanimous pushback against this indefensible government overreach on local streets. 🙌 Including a strengthened response on safe speeds around schools (carried by a casting vote!). Very very grateful for the integrity on display today. 🙏🥰

The penny dropped the other day. All this Government's policy has come through the Koru Lounge Think Tank. It's pretty much every soundbite you'll ever hear in the Koru Lounge put into action.

I had to create a file of fake student info that exactly matches the format you get from an institutional system, so I can record some demonstration steps without revealing real info. The important thing that I want to share with all of you is that I called this file psuedents.csv

Wait wait hear me out; this is actually the literal funniest thing, because there were some strategists in the National Party who were so high on their own supply that they suggested the mere election of Christopher Luxon would goose the economy into prosperity. So we're laughing! Laughing!

Companies like Coca-Cola sell about 1 billion single-use plastic bottles in New Zealand EVERY YEAR.

A BILLION throwaway plastic bottles. Every year.

To mark the start of #PlasticFreeJuly, we used Eden Park to show what that looks like👇

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.

But Chris Luxon's Fast Track Wrecking Bill could now expose those non-National Park areas to logging and mining. Could the hard-fought indigenous forest protection gains we won 20-plus years ago now be at risk along with other forests managed by DOC? Not without a fight.

The absolutely wild thing is: This goes for ALL social aid. Just *giving people some fucking money,* literally going "OK, how much did you need?", cutting checks, and waving them out the door? COSTS LESS and HAS BETTER OUTCOMES than the current system's bureaucracy and means testing, EVERY TIME.

It is a whole-stack problem. There is no reason not to serve just HTML, and if they need magic sprinkles on a page, they can use Svelte, which is pretty much the gold standard for media interactives these days. Bad technology choices results in bad outcomes for customers.

It does work quite well, in my experience, but really, there is zero reason for most media website to use React. RNZ does not, and the speed index is something like 1.2 compared with 4 or 5 for both Stuff or NZH. Steam radio wins again, and with site tech that was built 10 years ago!!!
