my observation is that the Gaza war is so atrocious that people are powerfully motivated to come up with some way that voting will solve it. simply not the case alas

but, again, this is why: Trump-45 was constrained-lawlessness, so extremely damaging and chaotic, whereas Trump-47 is planned as unconstrained-lawlessness, and taking aim at the bedrock norms directly. So the country will just straight up break under it.

So, there's a pretty stark historical analog to that, but I am cognizant of Godwin's law and do not feel the need to go down that road here. Next time we have a couple beers in us maybe.

Yeah that was...not ideal. None of it is. But the consequences of getting wrong are that *everything* gets worse. In some cases by a lot. That's what wieghs on me.

Not lecturing anyone. Merely noting that my choice in the voting booth is a pretty clear one. And the "Biden has been terrible on Isreal" line is a conveniently reductive rationalization for disavowing the consequences of the failure to collectively act at this moment.

I'm not denying that the Alito flag story is worth covering. But, the better evidence that Alito is a partisan hack can be found in his opinions.

they made this same polite request of Roberts last year and he gave them the finger. he will almost certainly do the same this time. the Dems are at a crossroads with the courts. if they want voters to understand this as an existential crisis for democracy they need to act like it is one.

If you care about Palestinians, you need to do everything possible to keep Trump out of office, which means voting for Biden. Voting 3rd party b/c you believe Biden is actively facilitating genocide might soothe your conscience, but it won't help Palestine. It's self-indulgent, not moral.

I care about college students' opinions more than most, and I can't believe "Hundreds of College Students Protest at University of Over 36k" is the no. 1 story in the country, with top outlets doing live updates, placing those updates higher than updates about Gaza, and pushing Ukraine out entirely.
