The Court ruling today is terrible but expected. I will just gently remind everyone that the election hasn’t happened yet. We shouldn’t assume the worst outcome as a foregone conclusion. That only encourages more apathy than many are already feeling.
I really needed some good news today. This has been such a depressing few days. Thank you, though, for a little positive light in the darkest timeline♥️I feel like crying.😿
Trump lost by 3 million votes in 2016 and 7 million in 2020.
These are razor thin margins, but America seems to still be on the side of "sanity".
Can't let up now!
I don’t think you get it. You all imagine Trump is the threat. He isn’t. Fascism is the threat. Replace Trump with DeSantis or any other fascist moron and it’s the same result. The Democratic Party has done nothing to stop the rise of fascism. They’ve actually helped it along.
Not recognizing the clear and present danger to our nation is how we got here. I will NOT gently remind everyone that hoping for the best hasn’t worked out too well.
We should definitely redouble our GOTV efforts. If we vote in numbers too big to fudge, and make sure that on the first Tuesday in January enough attention is paid to security, we might be able to save the Republic from the Rethuglicans.
The supreme court isn't going to let Joe Biden be president again you idiot. No matter how many ppl vote for him in November. He has to deal with the court now.
Joe Biden has to confront the supreme court before the election you dummy. He has to take action now or the supreme court will simply declare Trump the winner of the election no matter the outcome
I honestly do not understand your position here. It’s DONE—Trump will not be tried until after the election. What is the outcome you’re saying is still uncertain? This case was about whether he could run again. He can.
Ngl this sounds super fucking pollyanna.
Also I keep hearing this and shit just gets worse, so maybe instead of this we should assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised if we don't end up in death camps.
I'm not trying to be defeatist, I'm legitimately asking: how are we to believe the electoral system isn't also compromised? We never imagined the justice system would collapse like this, but it has. Why would we believe the election itself is invulnerable? Note: I'm not saying it's useless to vote.
The "worst outcome" only gets staved off if Biden wins. It doesn't alter the fact that we are at least two fundamentally different countries pretending to be one, and that is simply unsustainable.
Said more clearly:
FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS!
Contact your Reps! Contact your Senators! Contact the effing PRESIDENT! Contact the Supreme Court! MAKE DAMN SURE THEY KNOW WE'RE HERE.
NEVER give up. There is ALWAYS hope.
This is true, but where is the evidence that, if elected, the Ds do anything to fix the issues? They have not even attempted to do so so far.
Is the plan to win elections forever?
The regulatory state is already basically dismantled regardless of the outcome of the election and Genocide Jill and Genocide Joe insist on handing this one to trump so I’m not sure it’s productive not to consider us already in the worst case scenario
This ruling makes me wonder if the GOP:
a) Fully expects Trump to be reelected
b) Thinks a Democrat will never get elected again
Because I can't imagine the GOP being OK with a Democrat President to wield this level of immunity.
VOTE!
Joe Biden was certainly not himself at that debate, at least in the first 20 minutes or so. Makes me wonder if there was some reason for the brain fog, innocent or otherwise. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt until the direction is clear.
The election's not a problem now surely. Following the Supreme Court ruling conferring immunity on all actions taken by a President; even if Biden loses, he can use the full force of government to keep Trump out of the White House, and never once be at risk of breaking any law. 🤪
if the dems work hard, they might be able to tear down the republicans massive lead 2 the point where they only win in the second ever 49 state landslide and not the first ever 50 state one
But will winning the election really deal with the court's lawlessness? If it will, it's on the democrats to explain how. And I don't think "hopefully a few of them will die and Republicans let us replace them" is a great plan.
The most this really means right now is that Trump's court cases won't happen before the election. The SC sent it back down for further clarification in addition to their ruling. They'll rule, another appeal will bring it back up. Min. 6 months to another year before this is actually decided.
Do you think most people actually expected this? I felt like most people expected that they would give a definitive 'no, of course the president can't commit crimes,' just too late to do anything before the election.
Ms. Gay, sometimes I wonder how we're ever supposed to pull ourselves out of the apathetic state we've found ourselves in lately.
It feels like being in dirty water and we're trying to find up. Where is the surface? When can we gasp for some air and take a breath?
