I’m reading Lawrence Wright’s book about COVID and the story of the mRNA vaccines is really incredible. A testament to public research and biotechnology. They designed the proteins a day after getting the genetic sequence! They inoculated the first person in the trial on **March 16, 2020**!!

one nice way of bridging this -- building local community + doing something in states where it matters -- might be to have a house party that you invite neighbors to, have conversations about what matters to you, and do postcard writing/phone banking there!

My in laws live in Finland and I’ve visited a lot. You know how people say “NYC is nice to visit, but I’d never want to live there”? Finland is kind of the opposite. Not much distinct from other Nordics unless you’re really into Finnish history/culture, but really lovely quality of life!
