Every snippet of this I see, I keep finding new things wrong with it. The "atomization of the individual" (lack of community ties) is because we've destroyed communal gathering spaces for the sake of capital and rampant criminalization/fearmongering.

Shipping pottery long distance via ocean was really common, so there are A LOT of shipwrecks with, like, the equivalent of corellware. The museum had an exhibit of some of the ~50k bowls they salvaged from that ship and it's FASCINATING how modern they look

Chances are pretty good! The Asian Civilizations Museum in Singapore has a shipwreck of mass-produced pottery from ~830CE (salvaged 1998) on display and it is AMAZING. They salvaged ~50k bowls that had been tightly packed in jars for shipping with straw (see pic!) and they looked brand new.

We said goodbye to Kiki today, almost 15 years old, she's been a huge part of my life all this time, she was the warmest, sweetest, gentlest little pupper in the world, and gave amazing hugs. She was filled with love, and had so much determination right up 'til the end.

What I truly appreciate about Ursula, Kevin and Cheryl plus my other friends is that I do not have to pretend to be something I am not. I can be 100% that nerd, nerding around, being bit of a goof in my way. That we can just sit in silence like Finns and it is comfortable.
