Any serious effort to build a functional US welfare state will require the federal government to set up bureaucracies to bypass reactionary state governments for this sort of thing. Seems like we should have learned this lesson after Medicaid expansion a decade ago, and yet, here we are again!

Straw man? It was willfully ignored when they had all the other candidates, including the winner of the Iowa caucus, cancel their campaigns for "stuttering" Biden. Just as long as they got rid of Bernie, they were fine with putting our fate in Biden's hands. This is what you guys wanted, not me.

I bought Affinity Photo 2 for work and have yet to dive that deep into it, but I like what I see so far. There's some muscle memory things I'd have to retrain, but nothing too bad. Certainly makes Gimp look like garbage. It's on sale for $35, which is bonkers for any kind of pro-grade software.

You could soon get a shot every six months that would basically eliminate your chance of getting HIV. Taken a step further: we have the tools to eliminate HIV in our lifetime.

Plastics are even embedded in paper products, such as all those frozen food boxes you find in the freezer isle. This means those boxes are not even recyclable as paper in most of the country, because they contain polyethylene. Check with your local recycling service to see what their policy is.

I'm definitely not being condescending towards vaccines, quite the opposite. I'm saying that they're so good, they're the reason why things are better than 2020. Without them, everything would be infinitely worse, and we'd still have to be doing lockdowns.

How? Remember, this is compared to what we were doing in 2020. Back then we were taking the pandemic very seriously and had all sorts of precautions in place, especially early on. That's all gone and now our only saving grace is the existence of the vaccines (which are becoming harder to get).

If Google sees you're running a Jellyfin server, sometimes they'll randomly mark your IP address as a "dangerous website" in Chrome. After over a year of this, the Jellyfin github still has no idea why it happens and Google is not helping. Anyway, at least it's not Plex, which I also have to use.
