One of my favourite moments managing a campground was when a dude driving a double cab ute came to us and said their large-ish caravan was totally stuck... and my husband pulled it out with our townie little RAV4 π π»π

Omg, so much. And then go and slap Minister Brown with some research papers and/or pictures of road accidents caused by speed. I've spent lots of time on it this week and the more I look into it the more π‘π‘ I get.

Public feedback on Simeon Brownβs speed-raising rule is open till midnight Thursday! Hereβs a handy guide: www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2024/07/04/s...
On the face of it, the Minister is misreading the roomβ and not reading the evidence. A reckons-based culture war has no place on our streets. #nzpol

The government's deadly speed rule goes against public opinion, road safety research, and local decision making.

If he continues on with this speed limit the rule in the face of solid evidence and feedback showing neither schools nor local government want this, he should be stripped of both Transport AND Local Government portfolios.

Simeon Brown's assertion here that safer speed policies were "simply to slow people down, and make it harder to get around and more inconvenient." shows such a fundamental misunderstanding of his portfolio and of people. #nzpol

I'm not a bad writer, BUT: - I'm often sloooooow because I find it hard to do a shitty first draft and overthink too much from the start - I definitely overuse the word definitely - my writing is usually clear, but can tend towards boring - I use a lot of parentheses (and exclamation marks!)

We work in an accommodation business that is VERY busy at Christmas/New Year, so it's lovely to have this special holiday at a much more suitable time of year. I'm hoping to grow our family traditions and really lean into this as our new year/time for reflection.
