Florida is doing everything in its power to bring back measles and higher rates of tooth decay for the state's children. Stay tuned for the return of whooping cough, and if they really put in the effort, maybe even polio and smallpox too! news.wgcu.org/health/2024-...

Mentally filled it out. It was very helpful until I screeched to a halt at “who or what might help me…” If my real life details would help you to expand that path, I’d be happy to share. Otherwise, I hope you develop a map for further exploring how to find that help in variety of ways, $-$$$. 😊

Amazingly, if you are prepared to invest in lying to your own doctor for nearly a year, they will attempt to provide treatment for the symptoms you claim to be experiencing. Shocking. Imagine she’d put half that effort into trying to repair her relationship with her estranged son.

This isn’t just an idle opinion; we know from the Gitmo cases Alito doesn’t care about due process in wartime and we know from westboro baptist church case he thinks speech he finds offensive isn’t protected. bsky.app/profile/adam...

Fun fact: The audiences of these blowhards Do Not Read. They know that, and publishing in general knows that. Bulk orders from organizations, sometimes by firms hired explicitly to put those orders in, are how nearly every BS, ghost-written conservative shitshow gets on the NYT bestseller list.

Book industry open secret, folks: If a title on a NYT bestseller list features a dagger in its description? Like this? (†) It means they've made it to bestseller status through suspicious means, specifically bulk-buy orders instead of sales to individual customers. They're scammin'.

There are so many Trump judges where I look at their career and think: "a discount insurance company would not consider this person fit to defend a minor car accident case." They have trivial experience with the actual practice of law. And now they're lifetime federal judges. It's a disaster.

Yes this is a sitting JUSTICE comparing comment moderation by a private company to the state’s ability to deprive people of their freedom. But also there is a 0 percent chance sam alito in 1917 would oppose throwing communists in prison bsky.app/profile/leah...

One of the many depressing parts of the GOP takeover of the federal courts is just how low-wattage these guys are. Alito is at the top of the food chain, and he thinks he made a really clever point by conflating "government throws you in jail for political speech" and "private website deletes post."

I live in the same town as this woman. She organized and runs a chapter of Moms for Liberty. She was removed from back to school night at the highschool for screaming about teen girls having their breasts cut off. She has doxxed teachers. Her activities resulted in multiple bomb threats at schools.

It's always necessary to trade off risk and cost. The CLPS program, of which IM-1 is part, exists to let NASA throw small amounts of money at high-risk missions. It's easy to Monday-morning quarterback, but NASA contributed $77 million to a mission that would have cost them $400+ million.

I'm always astounded at this reporting. I watched my friends with kids **suffer** during Covid, I'm watching the world fail to do anything meaningful about climate change and strip reproductive rights, and THEN kids are ridiculously expensive and time burdensome on top of everything.

News coverage of "Millennials are not having kids, oh no" should also include the overwhelming fact many men still expect women to do most of the parenting and household labor PLUS work full-time. My mom suffered that until her divorce and I'd rather be single with a dog than repeat her experience.

I reported on economics for one (1) year. Everything I learned about it—from data on corporate pay penalties for mothers, co-pays for births, and lack of federal policies on issues like childcare or paid leave—loudly indicated there was little to no incentive for me to have children in the US.

It's important to emphasize that many Millennials are making educated, deeply considered decisions about not having kids informed by factors like the high cost of living, student loan balances, thinking about their own childhoods, climate change, and the frequent number of mass shootings at schools
