I'll keep repeating it until people understand, this is how you know it's a ratfucking operation and not a serious effort to determine if the president is mentally fit. None of these people care about policy, their entire industry is in it for controversy and clicks. It's a ratfucking op.

as liberals it's time we woke the fuck up. it is not certain but it is certainly possible that we are approaching a moment of constitutional rupture. it's time we began to articulate our plans for resisting that rupture and restoring America to what it was meant to be

You're entitled to your despair. But understand that when you catastrophize on social media, you risk spreading learned helplessness. Which is exactly what fascists want, for people to lie down and cry.

And even if all politicians are self-serving bastards only in it for their own money and power, it's still better to vote for the self-serving bastards who get that power by promising to make the lives of lgbtq+ people slightly better, rather than those who promise to make our lives a lot worse.

It sucks having to navigate hurdles and abuses that are brought against all sorts of queer people in far too many places, by far too many people and organizations. One of the biggest and most horrible abuses is being told nobody cares for you. That nobody supports you.

Biden and his administration have put out any number of statements supporting trans people, and taken a number of specific concrete actions to show that support. But.. It still sucks. It sucks having to navigate life as a trans person in Florida...

Care for trans minors is legal right now because a Dem appointed judge threw out a law written by Republican lawmakers and signed by Ron DeSantis. The Biden Administration is currently being sued by the state of Florida because of rules it wrote protecting trans people from discrimination in care.

I think a lot of it is also that nobody in the professional political class really wants to admit what everyone knows is true: this election is /overwhelmingly/ just (another) referendum on Trump. Everything else is using proxies to try and paper over that fact, which is also why they don't land

I think in theory that speaks to a strong possibility of successfully learning math later in life. In practice, though, adult remedial math classes are probably structured for students who are bad at math, rather than for clever kids who previously lacked access to education.

3/3 It really works! Try saying (instead of singing): "Picture yourself in a boat on a river With tangerine trees and marmalade skies" (in a natural, non-Shatner voice) ...and I'll bet your rhythm matches the song. And that's why the MEANING of those lyrics are so vivid and easily remembered.

This also shows how critical It is for journalists to step out of the role of just being law enforcement stenographers. Even if this explains why the initial report was so euphemized, cop-speak doesn’t justify a failure to do the work it takes to quickly give readers a more accurate follow-up report

as usual, looking to the actual tactics of the civil rights movements is a useful exercise: they were very much aware of the need to persuade by fitting their actions to a narrative of injustice and oppression precisely *because* they understood their situation to be deeply unfair and unjust.

Large Faceted Gold Object is stocked above the Small Faceted Gold Object price tag, and vice versa. Looks like an inattentive stocker didn't notice that the large is cheaper. That's likely to lead to an upset customer or two.

though my guess is they'll both keep selling so the prices wont' drop any further before the items sell out. (n.b. that 75% off of 24.98 is actually $6.25. Price is $6.17 because it's programmed to round down to a price ending in a 7. Makes it easier to identify which items are clearance priced.)

After some period, sales are assessed. The small faceted object is selling, so the price doesn't change, but the more expensive large faceted object isn't selling so the price drops to 75% off at $6.17. If that cannibalizes sales from the small object, we'll see it further discounted next time...
