Le Pen's party (RN) got 143 seats. While a record, that's far (very far) from the 289 they hoped for to govern. How?! Hundreds of Left & Macronist candidates dropped out to help each other block the RN. And millions of voters then voted strategically to get that job done.

There was a spate of pandemic novels by big American authors a couple years ago. The Sentence by Louise Erdrich. Anne Tyler’s French Braid. And the most pandemic-centric of all, Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult. I read them when I was writing my own novel that, in part, addressed the pandemic.

Homeless people can be arrested for sleeping, Presidents cannot be arrested for rampant graft and corruption done while in office. There is no clearer a summary of "conservative 'law and order'" than this.
