As someone who works at the agency (NOAA) that just lost Relentless, I would like to welcome the Justices to fisheries management 101. I have six pages of acronyms you will need to learn. I’m assuming you have already taken PhD level classes in Bayesian statistics and are a fluent R programmer.

if you actually get *paid* to write about politics for a living, screaming that the nominee has to drop out after one bad debate *in june* (and one in which the challenger did not do well, either), you are unqualified for your job and your salary

I'm reminded of what JFK said, DC is a combination of northern charm and southern efficiency, and why Derek Brown named his bourbon bar Southern Efficiency.

I had a place that I couldn't pop popcorn and run the microwave at. How am I supposed to melt butter for the popcorn? Other than wait 20 seconds after I finish popping popcorn like a peasant!

Btw, I think I get this combo of anxiety and energy from my mother who was usually the long distance driver on family road trips. My dad would drive for an hour, then turn it over to her and lean back and sleep in whatever position he was in.

Jesus. I can't sleep when flying, and I would love to be able to. At least I got to watch the first season of ST:Strange New Worlds when I flew back from Spain earlier this month. But I would love to be my wife, who will between 30 minutes and 2 hours in go to sleep, and wake up rested when we land.

The AI facility in Musk’s new Gigafactory in Texas will house 50,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs. Each one consumes about 3,740 kWh annually. So *just to power the GPUs,* Musk will need 187GWh per year. This is higher annual consumption than some entire countries.

Eleven Commandments.
Louisiana's law mandates a specific text. Not from Exodus, or Deuteronomy, but from the Fraternal Order of Eagles. They used a KJV-sounding pastiche adapted from the Bible and paraphrased by a Minnesota juvenile court judge in the 1950s.
It's not the Bible. It's the Eagles.

When I was 25 and despairing a mentor mailed a photocopied version of this photo along with a letter to me.
I think about this photo regularly.
