...Student loan debt objectively makes the economy worse for everyone not just borrowers, what the hell is the conservative rancor about student debt relief about exactly?

Mind you, it's about as simple to configure as a goddamn cruise missile.
Open source devs have an incredibly high bar for what they consider an "easy" computer task, and it will leave you often wishing them pain and suffering.
My kingdom for a UI designer.

I'm using open source software called Home Assistant. It works with devices that aren't even supposed to work with a simple, local server in my own house.
And it straight up proves how unnecessary all the login garbage is.

The central hurdle to the Internet of Things has always been "login to our server all the way across the planet so you can turn off the lights ten feet away from you."
None of these companies could just sell home automation. They had to fucking bundle it with data gathering.

I don't even fucking *like* Biden and even I know this is fucked up.
This is Daily Beast shit. This is *Buzzfeed* shit. And it's coming from the Washington Post.
What the hell is happening.

Let me spoil this one for you: every single source is confidential.
Every single one.
We don't know how close they actually are to anything, and not one "Democratic leader" is even named in this article.
Not. One.
This is just messed up. This is Inquirer level reporting.

I've figured out how to set up a home automation server that can run through Stream Deck and now I can turn the lights and the AC on and off and I DON'T HAVE TO CONNECT TO A CORPORATE SERVER ACROSS THE INTERNET this is the best

The grand irony here is ALL OF THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.
Paramount did THE EXACT SAME THING in the 1990s.
"Hey, if WE ran the television network ourselves we could keep all the money!"
It took UPN almost the same number of years to become a debacle, too.

All of what's happening to Paramount is because some dipshit executive said "Hey, if WE ran the streaming service ourselves we could keep all the money!"
I've been waiting on this for years now. My only surprise is that Amazon wasn't the one who snapped them up.

In addition to many good people's jobs being needlessly sacrificed to the god of Line Go Up, this might also be the end of what will be considered in ten years as Star Trek's golden age.
Think of how bad it will have to get for THAT to happen, because that's what's coming.

when outlets write about this stuff they could easily talk to any of a million experts on consolidation and merger history who'd tell them these deals NEVER deliver the promised synergies, cause endless layoffs, and largely exist to boost stock and nab tax breaks
but they're not interested

With the Biden age story, there’s a drumbeat, a crusading intensity that NYT achieves by picking at it incrementally from every angle. That sends an alarm to readers. This doesn’t happen with Trump coverage in the same way.
Discussed this on MSNBC here:

ADHD (then known as 'hyperkinetic reaction of childhood') first appeared in the DSM in 1968 and was renamed ADD in 1980. In 1994, they listed up to three variants of ADHD
In *1997-99*, 7% of all US kids between 4-17 were diagnosed with ADHD

Project 2025 includes the call to “outlaw” porn. If you want to understand what they mean by that? Look to what these groups are already fighting “porn,” and their connections to anti-gender movements outside the US. I start that analysis here:

Normally I think focusing on a few specific things and driving the message home over and over would be the wisest course of action but in this case the entire Republican Project 2025 document is such a toxic sludge pile just pointing to the entire thing and being like "look at this shit" works
