This is where I think a lot of people are talking past each other. If you think Biden is very probably (not definitely, nobody's saying that) heading for defeat, you'll be willing to risk "lots of potential downside". If you think he's doing fine, obviously try to avoid doing weird stuff.

Is there any polling showing that they feel like this? Going by the last few primaries Black Dems seem to be mainly into picking a nominee they think will win. Not saying you're wrong, just wondering what the evidence is

The Biden discourse I see here is actually 2 arguments. One is about Biden's condition, the other is about whether he was already heading for defeat. If you think the latter you want high-variance strategies like Whitmer Switcheroo or President Kamala, even knowing they could blow up in your face

Clearly Kamala is the obvious solution, OTOH this situation has never happened before so I wouldn't outright rule out a method that's never been tried before. Biden's recommendation controls what his delegates would do so he probably has some scope to impose a process if someone has a good one

And I really do think working to help protect the right for people to speak anonymously in a way that means the government can't subpoena your identity if you take reasonable precautions is *the* biggest way I can have a positive impact right now, because it touches on *so many* of the other issues

Don't think that would work either, debit cards are also kind of reversible. Basically anything involving a card is based on the principle that a lot of the payments will be fraudulent and you paper over that after the fact by reversing stuff

The best argument for the EC at national level is that it means it doesn't matter if strongly partisan states rig the presidential election in their state, which they otherwise could since they're controlled entirely by one party and don't have to worry about swing voters
