This is where I think a lot of people are talking past each other.
If you think Biden is very probably (not definitely, nobody's saying that) heading for defeat, you'll be willing to risk "lots of potential downside".
If you think he's doing fine, obviously try to avoid doing weird stuff.

Is there any polling showing that they feel like this? Going by the last few primaries Black Dems seem to be mainly into picking a nominee they think will win. Not saying you're wrong, just wondering what the evidence is

The Biden discourse I see here is actually 2 arguments. One is about Biden's condition, the other is about whether he was already heading for defeat.
If you think the latter you want high-variance strategies like Whitmer Switcheroo or President Kamala, even knowing they could blow up in your face

I mean it's not a non-zero risk but the US is pretty good at stopping their presidents getting shot lately and you only run the elevated risk for a few months

I know nothing but I'd assume they'd give all that money to the DNC then the next person would try to raise new donations from the same donors?

That's what I mean, he can't force them to vote one way or the other but if he says either "please nominate Kamala" or "please nominate the winner of not-obviously-insane selection process X" then that's what they'll do.

Clearly Kamala is the obvious solution, OTOH this situation has never happened before so I wouldn't outright rule out a method that's never been tried before. Biden's recommendation controls what his delegates would do so he probably has some scope to impose a process if someone has a good one

No, public denials mean nothing. Biden is the nominee until such time as he says he isn't and they have to support the nominee. What matters is what they're saying in private which could be the same or could be different, we have no idea

Ironically Garland was on a similar panel for a related matter and that result was... not good :-(

Chinese online censorship is a messy, shifting patchwork of signals from above and guesswork and ass-covering below across officialdom, industry, and users. Things are censored (meaning many different things) on one site or date and not another, or inconsistently on the same ones. This is not a bug.

Don't think that would work either, debit cards are also kind of reversible. Basically anything involving a card is based on the principle that a lot of the payments will be fraudulent and you paper over that after the fact by reversing stuff

Can you just buy USDC with MasterCard like that? IIUC you generally can't sell people crypto with credit cards because they'll keep the crypto and reverse the credit card payment

The best argument for the EC at national level is that it means it doesn't matter if strongly partisan states rig the presidential election in their state, which they otherwise could since they're controlled entirely by one party and don't have to worry about swing voters
