I guess I just fell off the turnip truck, but I'm still shocked that they're writing 'analysis' that is trying to push members of Congress to openly come out against an incumbent president from their party running for re-election. Just wild stuff.

Call your rep today to encourage them to support AOC’s articles of impeachment. I will block anyone who tells me why they, personally, cannot and therefore why it’s pointless.

the framing of the attack on Chevron (gobbled up by a lazy press, libertarians, and rubes) is this was a good faith action taken to rebalance goverment power, which of course is why all the shittiest people and companies imaginable support it and it was dropped on a Friday before a major holiday

the FCC under the leadership of Carr is also 100% going to dismantle net neutrality and telecom oversight, and levy a multi-billion dollar tax on tech companies (that you'll pay for) to fund fiber connections you'll never actually get (not that anybody cares about telecom policy anymore)

A reminder that if Trump wins & purges the civil service to replace it with loyalists as planned, all sorts of govt data will become totally untrustworthy. The House GOP is already trying to rig the census to screw Democrats in redistricting after Trump's first-term attempt failed

The right wing is permanently aggrieved, and constantly needs to identify new affronts in the social order. The backlash that Susan Faludi identified in 1991, and @msignorile.bsky.social in his book in 2015, has realized its potential in the new judiciary. This is revenge on people for existing.

2005 political media: You can't impeach George W. Bush, because that will just be seen as "tit-for-tat" for the Clinton impeachment, and that's no way to govern. 2024 Donald Trump: "I am your retribution." 2024 political media: Biden should drop out.

terrifying & mostly insane things Trump said at his rally yesterday was that he didn't know what NATO was before he became POTUS, but he learned in 10 minutes. It shows how stunningly ignorant one can be while narcissistic grandiosity says: 'I'm fit to lead this country.' 2

right wing propaganda's greatest success is seeding the lie that our overwhelmingly center-right corporatist press is somehow "too liberal" in reality, anything vaguely resembling progressivism is defunded and marginalized (ask me how I know)

It cannot be stressed enough that adjusting the size of the Supreme Court in the 19th c. was a serious solution to serious concerns about how the Court functioned. As @earlymodjustice.bsky.social points out, reform often addressed imbalances. And these imbalances were often about REPRESENTATION. 1/

What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

The country can't survive the invention of "presidential immunity" unless we also recognize that when voters revoke it, that has to be regarded as the most solemn rebuke imaginable. You can't use the immunity they grant to steal more immunity for yourself, or we're finished. Oh wells!
