I would love to see Harris run for President in the next cycle, but swapping candidates this late in the game (to literally anyone), I think, would sink the ship.
Electability and ability to perform in the stretch are legitimate things to worry about. Trying to metagame the NYT editorial crew is absolutely loser shit. Either Biden still has the juice or he doesn't and none of us can really know. But replacing him because AG Sulzberger says so will fail.

the NYT’s specific op-ed bent is that they are the kingmakers who will decide the election on the democratic side and if she doesn’t kowtow to them, she will get the same treatment biden is getting and clinton got, but kowtowing won’t matter to actual voters
My biggest fear is that some people are so desperate for an open convention that they won't let up until they get one, and then the first ballot reveals no-one wants to run except obscure 1-term former Reps and losing Senate candidates, and shit themselves belatedly realising they have to pick one.
I'm fully supportive of her candidacy if it happens, but 1. if they do it, she should become president, too, & 2. that doesn't mean I'm going to pretend it's without difficulties
