I know there’s a very real threat of not having free and fair elections after this. But people organizing in the Jim Crow South already didn’t have those and they still did the work.

I started my career reporting on how people were using the Internet in dictatorships, and if there's one BIG thing I learned from talking to a bunch of people who literally had served jail time for political blogging, it was "choose your battles wisely, and don't say dumb things in dumb places."

right. “we cannot trust the person who was on a winning national ticket to win again, our only hope is someone who has never run a national campaign in any capacity and has never been vetted on the presidential scale.” word?

Kamala Harris isn't some perfect solution to all that ails the Democratic party. But she is basically the only other plausible option, and insisting that a white or male figure untested on the national stage is somehow a safer option is telling on your own racial and gender attitudes.

I think it's high time we make a rule that says that in order to be paid as a national political pundit you must spend one (1) week canvassing door-to-door in a place you do not live.

Continuing my 5 month streak of only charging the car when electricity prices in SoCal are negative. This means that the marginal demand increase to charge my EV is likely met with what would’ve otherwise been curtailed solar power. Cleanest energy possible. 🔌💡

8 days ago Heastie said Climate Superfund was dead.
Instead, Last night it passed the Assembly.
Politicians tell you something is dead because they want you to believe that and go away. You don't have to accept that. You can still win.
Subskeet congestion pricing.

Remember kids, every molecule matters. We don't need 1000 perfect climate advocates, we need a billion flawed ones. Make the changes you can personally, locally, regionally, nationally. It all helps. And it inspires others that we can actually make real change.

I just called my GOP NY state Senator, Pete Oberacker, to tell him I support congestion pricing as an upstater who occasionally drives into NYC and would rather pay $15 than sit in traffic all day. his staffer was very polite did I play the volunteer firefighter card: bet it took 1 minute

This statement continues to make no sense. Who is going to raise electricity rates on rate payers? Because it's not Con Edison that's going to pay into this super fund, it's Exxon, Shell, and BP. They don't set NY rate payer rates.

@heatmap.news this would be a great story to explore in more detail. Because I think the statements in NY make no sense, especially after VT just enacted the law (and shared none of those concerns).

I am a huge fan of Howard University's role in Higher Ed (and HBCUs in general) but my heart sinks every time I learn a school installed a new fossil gas cogeneration plant in the 2020s. Infrastructure is hard but so are pathways to zero emissions by 2050 for systems like this. #edusky
