I don't love Biden. I really don't.
But it is just fucking ridiculous to have weathered YEARS of people telling me to stop criticizing him because it will suppress the vote, only to have people with way more power than me do *this.*

As an old person I can handle young people not liking the music I liked, and I can handle them liking music I hate. That’s how it should be. I can’t handle young people rehabilitating garbage songs from my youth as classics. Yes I’m talking about Huey Lewis.

i'm sorry, this is an area where i am just completely unwilling to compromise. i think speeding and reckless driving are profoundly antisocial acts that are DEMONSTRABLY PROVEN to result in TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DEATHS every year in car and pedestrian crashes. this seems bad to me.

since I wrote this I talked to several people who worked on NYC's original plan and they all say the same thing: the mayor killed a promising open access fiber network because the regional cable broadband monopoly didn't like it

NYC had a promising major plan underway to build an open access fiber network that could deliver dirt cheap access, but it was killed by the Adams administration and replaced with an expensive and cronyistic deal with charter communications
(this article only briefly notes that at the end)

extremely concise, cut and dry analysis. one of the frustrating things about this discourse for me is that many people treat this as a clean dichotomy: that wanting an end to the bloodshed is incompatible with wanting Biden to win. but each of those goals needs the other.

It is very interesting to me that you can express discontent with Democrats and have people instantly read that as you saying “I’m not voting.”
You don’t need to love someone to cast a vote. You can hate their fucking guts and vote.

i want you to know that if you’re not doing international law or writing policy dependent on global legal definitions of words & you’ve ever put the brakes on a “stop trying to kill all palestinians” convo by saying, “let’s pause to define ethnic cleansing & genocide,” i want you to disappear.

It seems to me that when a society privileges a group to murder and abuse weaker people with complete impunity, the natural and proper reaction of a free person is to hate that group and resent the society that enables it, and acquiescence is a sign of unsuitability to be a free person.

A pretty mind-boggling paragraph insofar as it makes clear that shooting citizens engaged in peaceful protest is an idea Trump has floated on *multiple* occasions—that his aides have had this conversation with him many times!

When I was a kid using “gay” as a synonym for bad and telling people “don’t be a fag” was normal. I would laugh, even though I was secretly having gay sex. When people complain about not being able to make jokes like they used to I remember this is what they miss.

Others have said this and will keep saying it, but:
the plain meaning of Trump's "vermin" and "poisoning our blood" language is what it is, and it doesn't require any comparison to Naziism or any Nazi influence; that kind of despicable talk has homegrown American roots that long predate 1933.
