I think that’s what tripped me up, too! Fear to commit? And then be held to a semver v1 compatibility promise? … but like, also… cutting v2 also isn’t that bad? I dunno.

Oh… yeah… I even knew about that rule, and I’m like, “hey, follow semver”. Bonus rule: if major and minor version are zero, then everything goes as well. Problem is we end up with these “eternal beta/minor” versions and 😔

Had lunch with a former colleague today and she asked if I missed it. I have not had a single death threat, nor have I been assaulted, or racially abused, since I stopped working for the NHS. Why would I miss it? Even if my writing career failed spectacularly, I still wouldn't go back to the NHS.

Yep. I wasn't too happy about that when I arrived. I've been hoping so far that Germany would at least have some better protections against democratic backsliding, considering that we've actually gone through it before… but all I can hang into now is “at least I'm still better off than in the USA.”

1/ Reminder that violent crime has gone down since the 1960s, and wage theft and civil asset forfeiture have gone up since the 1980s. Cops stole more property than burglars stole in the last five years. More money is lost to wage theft than lost to all violent crimes for the last five years.

Yep. I left, because I was sure things were gonna get bad. Even if they hadn't, I was still wanting to move to Germany for decades anyways. Events just happened that made me more motivated to get out.

Austria passed a “no head coverings” law in an attempt to stop women from wearing hijabs. Mostly, it only impacted people wearing ski masks, and _one_ hijab wearer, who kept getting fined, because the law did not deter her.

Had a CTO come in, say that we were going to stop doing what we've been doing and expecting different results, and start over writing the backend from scratch. I told them that's what we've been doing, and feared for the company. I was right.

This is why I’m called “cat milk”. Because I like cats, and cat like milk. Germany actually even has special milk treated to remove the lactose so that cat’s digestive systems can handle the milk. Remember, us lactose tolerant people are the mutant freaks, don’t feed normal milk to cats!

I was checking the night time hours yesterday for where I live in Germany, and the site just had: “Nacht: findet nicht statt.” (Night: will not take place) almost like it’s a social event that got cancelled because Cassie forgot to schedule the venue.
