… but also - the concept of “woman with penis/neovagina” does not compute to them either, because of their concept of where gender *is* in the body and how tightly they tie it to the capacity to perform a given type of reproductive labor - the loss of a perceived “ally in patriarchy” upsets them

The first thing that comes to my mind is the concept that bigots see trans women as men who are throwing away the privilege of existing in a male-appearing form rather than as being women; not only does giving up privilege not compute to them…

Different versions of this happen with homosexuality and with people just not conforming to traditional gender roles in some fashion; the underlying thread is a visceral reaction of “AAAAAAH WE’VE LOST ANOTHER PENIS/UTERUS!” (regardless of the fact that many people in these categories do reproduce).

… fine I’ll add more. It seems like transgender people trigger bigots so exquisitely hard in part because of the changes many of them choose to make to their bodies, many of which impact reproduction. For example this might explain much of TERF screeching about “mutilated daughters”. …

The perversion of the desire to reproduce into something used to strong-arm others into it out of reproductive anxiety is a common thread between punishment of gender/sexuality/gender role “deviation” and punishment of the refusal to have children for any reason. 2/2

I read your article. I think there’s a simpler motivation for many patriarchal men: “I want to reproduce. I need someone with a uterus (usually smaller than me) to do so. I don’t respect their boundaries/see them as a person. Raping and otherwise controlling them will ensure I make a baby.” 1/2
