The polls favored Le Pen's party to come in first, and she came in third. But that was largely due to 1) massive voter turnout which is not likely to happen here, and 2) third place candidates of the other two major voting blocks dropping out after the first round, also not possible/likely here.

As democracy teeters, a reminder: Jonathan Mitchell, who represented Trump at SCOTUS in the 14th Amendment case, is trying to end the ACA’s preventative care coverage requirements in a case that is aimed at opposition to PrEP coverage, which prevents HIV transmission.

Fifty some years ago I drove my grade school teachers insane with constant fidgeting, talking, and acting up in class -- unless I was paying no attention at all because I was fixated on drawing or reading. But I never got a diagnosis so I guess none of that ever happened.

The "official" GOP platform runs 16 pages, but if we take out the title page, the dedication page, a three-page rambling "preamble" and the page with a table of contents printed in 72-point font, it's only *ten* pages long. Project 2025, the actual platform, is 900+ pages long. Focus on that.

After decades of activism, Joe Biden’s administration finally was the one to ban USDA’s Wildlife Services division from deploying cyanide bombs on federal BLM lands. These things have killed pets and injured recreationists, and killing carnivores is bad policy anyway. Biden got it done.
