FYI I take 0.3mg/day Florinef, 0.2 in the early am and 0.1 after dinner. Iā€™ve tried cutting back with ā€¦ unfortunate results. Though Iā€™m curious if the guanfacine would change that.

I hope some combo of guanfacine and florinef helps you! It sounds like we have a lot of symptoms in common, always happy to discuss where things in my experience line up with yours. šŸ˜

I definitely understand only one med change at a time! The waiting is HARD but itā€™s worth it to run health experiments as effectively as possible for n=1 subject. I donā€™t have vasculitis afaik, though tbh with LC who knows? Iā€™m EDS, POTS, LC-based ME, milder MCAS, chronic migraine.

that the midodrine was actually the cause. But going on florinef was actually what ended a ten-month constant migraine while drinking and immediately peeing back out 6 plus liters a day. Now Iā€™m stable around 3.5-4.5L depending on the temperature and my hormonal state.

I tried florinef first and have done well on it (uh, aside from ending up in the ER hypokalemic: you have to keep a CLOSE eye on your potassium levels and supplement like mad) and my midodrine experiment coincided with some really bad MCAS flares so we discontinued even though Iā€™m not convinced ā€¦

I didnā€™t actively notice better temp regulation when I started it, and the heat is definitely still hard on me, but Iā€™ll think more about it. Happy to answer any questions about my experience!

Guanfacine has been really, REALLY good for my brain fog and fatigue from LC. I started at 0.5mg and went up by 0.5s to 2mg SLOWLY, I think over three months? Each increase would cause a BP drop for a few days but then Iā€™d manage to adjust. Note I also take florinef to help me keep sodium/fluids.

No, he was on his way to an orchestra dress rehearsal when he found the mushroom and the photo was taken. It was later shared with the author, who I think he knew from a local mushroom-hunter group?

Keeping Trump out of the White House isnā€™t the only thing that needs doing and it isnā€™t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isnā€™t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I donā€™t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

i want to add: if youā€™ve stopped masking for whatever reason, you can start again. it makes spaces more accessible, it helps preserve your health and the health of the people around you. itā€™s a tiny action you can take to make the world safer.

For Disability Pride Month, one thing I'd love abled bodied people to figure out is how to speak to someone with chronic health issues without implying that if they themselves had the disabled person's health conditions, they would end it all. I promise you life goes on- even with health issues.

One of the things I think about a lot is how one of the first lessons my mom taught me about voting was that it's not enough to consider what's best for your interests but those of the people around you. Your actions/vote will have an impact on them too. It's a principle I wish more ppl learned.

If you think everyone claiming their PhD is only claiming something about their intelligence rather than, say, celebrating hard accomplishments & staking out expertise in a world that likes to tell people specifically like them they can't be experts, in ways large & small? Then you missed some shit.

this is a good piece, and erica white sums up chevron's public health impact on *emergency powers* nicely: ā€œwithout chevron, agencies may be wary of acting, even during an emergency, because their actions could be challenged, & they would no longer be able to cite [it] in defense..."

Even before mask bans become law, simply the act of politicians speaking about mask wearers as criminals is stigmatizing a critical public health tool, and encouraging harassment of marginalized groups. That is incredibly reckless and making our cities more unsafe.

Of course thereā€™s also the mindset shift of sitting at the kitchen table to prep ingredients, but that doesnā€™t help with needing to stand over the stove. For that I would sit on the stoolmore sideways relative to the counter, which, suboptimal but less so than standing when I couldnā€™t.

It looks like this. Itā€™s height adjustable like an office chair and the angled-down leg areas let me knees kind splay out. It works well for me to use it to sit at a corner of a counter, since the normal issue with stools and cooking is nowhere for your knees to go so youā€™re too far away to work.

Sometimes itā€™s salt instead of oil! It has a higher heat capacity but then the materials to contain molten 1000 degree salt are more expensive.
