I never know when these games end, or a natural way to join in. Even with friends Ive known for almost a decade, it just never works out and I am worried I’m a problem, but so unsure how to improve. 🫥 I could try the online route but I want to spend irl time together.

Like this situation where people go on about their D&D game and at some point I ask if I could join in on the next round. And it’s happened now for bg3. Tons of chatter and talk of 3-4 stacks, its like, playing alone just emphasizes that left out feeling like a jet cone spotlighting a glassed planet

They all knew the game inside and out and I only knew some basic mechanics. I felt isolated after an hour of them talking about past games, adding a dozen layers to the game so they wouldn’t be bored. I grew up isolated af and this unfortunately triggered a feeling of a lifetime of being left out.

I felt left out. “Look how close we are” was the theme, yet I had never rolled a d20. It felt like a spotlight narrowing on my lack of exp, and not once was the veteran group of close friends down to deal with a neurodivergent noob. I just wanted to get into the thing, not grokking the session 0.

To elaborate why this is a big deal for me. I have never played D&D. Things never materialized for all sorts of reasons (work, school, etc.). I have tried, but in the end I found the interminable talk of previous characters and sessions at session 0 and such to be discouraging.

New pseudoscience just dropped on YouTube: electroculture. Folks out here wrapping copper wire around sticks & sticking it in a garden bed thinking it will make their crops grow bigger. As both an electrical engineer and a gardener I am already too tired for this nonsense 😹

Trying to play halo two after a long break from playing games, even though I’ve beaten the campaign solo on legendary, I really suck at it now. So unfortunate when skills atrophy. Makes me a little bit worried about some of my math skills.

I had some friends that were doing a lot of filtering for interesting and usually funny Xitter and TikTok for me. We had mutual interests, it was nice. We are no longer friends, sadly. I miss that a lot. Now I gotta check out these sites directly, which is less fun than summaries. Wish me luck.
