“Willie Mays, a perennial all-star center fielder for the NY and SF Giants in the 1950s & ’60s whose powerful bat, superb athletic grace and crafty baseball acumen earned him a place atop the game’s roster of historic greats, died June 18. He was 93.”

Some advice after 25 years of work in Egypt/living in AL:
1) Liquid IV is best electrolyte/salt hydration drink (or Pedialyte)
2)If overheated, cool shower, then colder bath (slow temp decrease)
3) Freeze bottles of water. Put between legs (crotch)+ under armpits+ at neck. Will cool blood rapidly

So he takes his nephew in so he can cosplay his mean ass grandfather, abandons to kid to one of those notorious “therapeutic” teen facilities, he acts out more cause duh and then they dump him like a bag of garbage. Sickening and heartbreaking.

He endorsed what his interlocutor described as a necessary fight to “return our country to a place of godliness.” And Alito offered a blunt assessment of how America’s polarization will ultimately be resolved: “One side or the other is going to win.” www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

“If I were a law school dean concerned about the education of young lawyers I’d worry about a system that requires future lawyers to choose a legal philosophy–-and then structure their whole career around that choice–-when they can hardly tell a tort from a trademark” abovethelaw.com/2024/06/reti...

i think that’s putting it a little harshly. *thomas jefferson* would have preordered a cybertruck. ben franklin would have made fun of him for it, but would himself own a rapidly depreciating model 3. and john adams would drive a 17-year-old honda civic

A tragic and abject mess! Given the partisan composition of the state you’d think NY would be an incubator of a lot of cutting edge left leaning/progressive policy ideas. Instead it’s nothing! Rebecca Traister wrote a great long read about Cuomo that highlighted a lot of the dysfunction.

“In a Manhattan courtroom, facing 12 ordinary American citizens, Trump could not count on right-wing legal elites to skew the proceeding in his favor. Trump is not angry because the Manhattan trial that convicted him was rigged; he is angry because it wasn’t.”

The only people who've ever held Trump meaningfully accountable over the last nine years have been ordinary Americans and they've spent that entire time being lectured to and berated by elites who've failed to do anything.

This cannot be emphasized enough: in healthy democracies, this is absolutely normal. It is in “banana republics” that criminals go into politics to stay out of jail.
