it finally happened, I saw my first cybertruck, and I know this sounds like ruthkanda forever but I swear to god after I started laughing uncontrollably my daughter asked “why is it so ugly”
I took a shitty photo. I had to redact the background but I really enjoyed experiencing the incredible gulag-cafeteria-tray colored crust already colonizing the door panels
Saw one first time stateside a few weeks ago (haven't seen one in Ontario yet) and I was strangely surprised to find it looked exactly like in photos. As if perhaps seeing it IRL it would look like a real car. But no.
It amazed me, when I finally saw one, how *no* amount of laughing at pictures and video of them online prepared me for the in-person experience. Like a Grand Canyon trip but for awful design.
Saw my 2nd on the other day on my morning run -- got to run alongside it as it went slowly down our main street, me making incredulous faces at the driver the entire time.
It's really impressive how much worse they look in person. I was prepared to be like "well, pictures sometimes don't do audacious design justice" and eat crow, but no, these cars are just pure dumb.
we had a yahoo with a cybertruck come to nantucket last week. first he parked in a crosswalk; then got stuck in sand. i assume he’s representative of all owners. so ugly.
There's one that regularly appears and disappears from where I do my exercise walks each morning. My theory is the owner tries to bring it out every so often, something unspeakable happens to it and said owner hides it again.
my honey and i saw one in Charlottesville. its true awfulness doesn’t come across in photos. in real life it looks like an industrial dishwasher that was left out in the restaurant parking lot for a year. i couldn’t stop looking at it because it was so dreadful. The Truck That Should Not Be.
It looks like you showed a 7 year old a Pontiac Aztec, then a month later asked him to draw it from memory, then gave the picture to your neighbor with the arc welder to build out of a Hummer chassis and a three dumpsters.
I've either seen two or the same one twice (Within about half a mile of each other's so probably the latter). It was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen parked at the worst pizza place in town and it looked even dumber in motion somehow.
An all electric, all terrain, tough duty pickup truck really could have been thing...
...if it hadn't been designed by a douchebag for his douchebag mates.
My wife saw one last week, so I know one is around here. She said pictures don't do it justice. I'm so jealous. I can't wait to see this thing and laugh at that idiot.
That was me a few days ago. Something about seeing it in RL and not online just makes it look worse. I couldn't help but laugh as I watched it waiting to make a left turn. The square wheel wells really got me for some reason.
A guy who runs a collective of crappy little businesses across the street from me (I live on a busy street) apparently bought one. It was also the first I'd seen in the wild, and I basically stood in my driveway laughing for 5 solid minutes.
I saw one when I was out with my nieces and they were all "what is that?! It's so ugly?!" And so I started telling them about the price and the possibility for losing a finger and the carwash mode and they thought I was making it all up (which does sound like something I would to, tbh)
Seeing one for the first time is so wild lol we'll always remember the first Cybertruck we saw and especially the part about how all the pedestrians who also saw it absolutely all flipped it off and yelled at the driver lol EVERYONE BOOED
My very offline wife thought I was joking about how ugly they were until she saw her first one last week. Pulled up next to us and had a hideous matte black wrap on it.
“Oh my god what is that!?”
It’s the cybertruck!
The what?
Tesla made a truck.
It’s sooo ugly! Also how is that a truck?!
I saw one in the wild a couple weeks ago and I nearly rear-ended the car in front of me staring at it, because...is stainless steel supposed to be beige??
All those people who consider him a “genius,” but he’s not an engineer. He’s not a scientist. Whatever innovations that exist in his rockets and satellites are someone else’s accomplishment. The Cybertruck is CLEARLY the thing that was his idea.
