A lot of this Biden vibes shit is middlebrow, middle aged white guys freaking out about aging. Seeing the impact of time freaked them out personally. The effect on middle aged men seeing elderly people walking & talking on tee vee - our societal haven of youth and beauty - shouldn’t be minimized

President Biden signed a bill reforming nuclear power in the United States this week, yet another measure that could modernize the grid and cut energy costs. How many voters have even heard about it?

Probably a lot harder to do this now that the Twitter API is broken and the commentariat has fractured between sites, but it'd be a kinda fun study to measure sentiment analysis against local weather. I keep forgetting it's maddeningly hot basically everywhere else.

I had to read Project 2025 and we seeeeeriously need to avert that shit. It's like they put Orwell and Phillip K Dick in a blender and had an LLM make a draft policy agenda, which was then edited into coherence by Dick Cheney

The Oceanic Pole of Inaccessibility--the point farthest from any land mass, is Point Nemo, 1,670 miles away from Pandora Islet, Moto Nui, & Maher Island off Antarctica. It's so remote that often the closest humans are those in the International Space Station when it passes overhead 250 miles up.

I want people to internalize just how bad it was before the ACA. You might claim that the ACA was "worse than nothing", but those who went through hell before know just how much better off we are now.

One thing I love is how every single person on Twitter thinks Harris could improve her polls by “actually campaigning” without realizing that Biden is in fact actually campaigning. The problem is you’re in a media bubble that ignores him in favor of a narrative, and it’ll probably ignore her too

Every reaction of "oh my God, NOT Pod Save America!!" I've seen has been founded in either not knowing about or just ignoring the existence of small, weird pools of lanyard-wearing shitheads in the DNC whose politics are defined by their personal allegiances.

My lukewarm take is that Biden losing the support of the Pod Johns is actually not that surprising given how his administration has washed much of the Clinton influence from actual operations and not been much better for the worst dullards from Obama.

Reason 1 *wearing my US political history hat* Incumbency is a fundamental advantage for all political candidates, including presidents. Only a small handful of incumbents lost. The vast majority won. So right away, I see a signal of historical ignorance when I see people proposing Biden step down.

Here’s a new fresh horror I hadn’t considered yet: not only will GOP change rules to entrench their hold on power if they gain the presidency in November, they will also entrench the detachment from reality of all Republican voters, by wrecking the machinery of objective fact gathering

Again, there's no more explicit evidence of how money corrupts politics than the fact that a guy who underperformed ROB PORTMAN by 15% is being considered for VP just because Peter Thiel adopted him in an 80s sitcom way.

did you vote in the Dem primary? most of the chatter I'm seeing/hearing from ACTUAL Dems is "don't you dare throw away my primary vote" (which is my position, too). AOC backs him. Whitmer backs him. Shumer backs him. Jeffries backs him. Newsom backs him. He's on the ticket. Deal with it.

I am genuinely curious what happens to the ~30% of GOP primary voters who kept turning out to vote for Haley against Trump even after she’d dropped out of the race. I *think* she was a vessel for an anti-Trump wing to pour their feelings, but I don’t know what *her* consolidating does to *them*.
