Like, Doc Marten has some sort of trademark thing only in Germany about selling this style of boot with brown soles, for example. So we just only sell boots with black soles bc it's easier than fiddling with restricting only brown soles from Germany.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of them - I get their newsletter and find them invaluable. I just realized that we were using the trademark for YEARS to refer to clothing before they registered it. According to USPTO, the trademark became effective April 2021.
