What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

“Jane McAlevey’s biggest impact on newsroom unions was through her advocacy for open bargaining
Most unions aren’t this transparent in negotiations. But it’s mostly a no-brainer for skeptical journalists who expect accountability in all things, including from their own coworkers.”

It's important for you to know that a chunk of conservative dark money has recently been lobbed at academic research on "polarization," and it bears reflecting on why a framing of the US's contemporary crisis that automatically suggests there's blame on all sides would be favored by them

That OpenAI would try this in SDNY (with Judge Kaplan no less?) is comical
.& maybe sanctionable? Especially given that OpenAI now has licensing deals with other pubs for their copyrighted material, NYT will turn over exactly nothing & OpenAI will stipulate to the validity of NYT’s copyrights.

Yes “coup” does also have colloquial uses. However, that’s not what it means in the context of an election, where a media org with a global audience certainly knows, coup has a very well-known & nearly universally understood meaning. Hence after many people complained, BBC finally changed it.

2024:

Coup d'Ă©tat
Coup d'Ă©twit,
Coup d'Ă©tweet.

Stroke of state
Stroke of twits
Stroke of tweets.

Aside from all of us who did, who could have ever predicted this? Now that twitter poisoning is endemic, who can even tell the difference?
