I shop for house/closet with the will-I-want-this-in-two-years rule. It guts nearly everything (for the better) before I buy.

as much as i love actually owning my media, i got rid of all my books and movies after the 3rd or 4th move. after only touching them to pack and unpack each time.

Our home is filled with my husbands stuff. Itβs nice stuff mostly, but Iβd prefer it wasnβt there. Buying things to throwaway later is an illness.

I know this sounds insane, but I threw out my wedding pictures and my baby bracelets and all my childhood photos when I moved. I just could not pack one more thing.
All my worldly goods are on a truck ...somewhere on their way to my new home and worrying that there are too many of them to fit in my new place is my new hobby
Also, if possible, get a spouse who is passionate about getting stuff away. I surreptitiously confess to my children that she's single-handedly (looking her facebook sell/give away groups, leaving her the use of only one hand) saving them.
