AP story waits until paragraph 16 to mention police & prosecutors are accused of conspiring to protect the cop who's apparently the real killer, until then making him seem like a lone wolf

Maybe this is a stupid question but I’ll ask anyway: why do the police need to have any involvement with automated traffic enforcement? Isn’t the whole point that it requires no actual officers to operate them?

I'm pretty sure the folks behind the wheel understand that Jaimie Dimon is not a viable replacement for Biden on the 2024 ticket, and I really do question the motive of anyone floating that as an even remote possibility.

Meanwhile in France, polling models that take account of the dropouts post-first round suggest a completely different result than the as many as 300 RN seats that were predicted after the first round. Huge. *FRANCE'S LE PEN GROUP WOULD GET 190-220 SEATS: BFM CITES HARRIS

If Democrats feel that this is a core threat, then what's the political education plan? Are they turning the document into an audiobook? Are they hosting Project 2025 teach ins? Are they creating a Democratic Project 2025? Like what's actually happening in reality?

Today I am choosing to be optimistic. The only thing we know about the future is that it’s coming. There is still goodness, and kindness. There are more decent people in the world than jagoffs, and even some of the jagoffs are alright.

If I understand correctly, due to the lack of tow points on that monstrosity if they didn’t move it in time the warranty is voided and it will cost 30k to repair the damage.

oh, you might say, the president can’t issue corrupt pardons. ah. but john roberts says that not only can he issue corrupt pardons, but if he tells his staff they are corrupt in the course of issuing them, that evidence is inadmissible in the event that you could somehow prosecute the corruption

She’s big on positioning herself as the kind of blue dog WA republican voters can pivot to with someone as nuts as Kent for an alternative. She also came out swinging against Student loan debt discharge and in the process alienated a lot of unions. Also voted Nay to raise the debt limit.

I don't want to sound too patronizing! If you want to create the public support for a future Dem trifecta to term-limit the court or expand it, go ahead. The dream Dem scenario for 2025 is another 51-49 Senate - GOP picks up WV, Allred beats Cruz, no other flips.

Steve Bannon is in prison for contempt and Rudy Giuliani just lost his N.Y. law license, but John Roberts insists that invisible ink in the Constitution prevents Donald Trump, the ringleader, from facing charges for virtually anything that Trump can claim was an official act.

Apart from the humor here: Biden and Congress absolutely can and should be scrutinizing SCOTUS's budget with a microscope, and attaching alllll the strings.

#Beryl: Earliest Category 5 hurricane on record in the Atlantic Ocean.

Previous record: Emily (July 17, 2005)

The 160 mph winds also ties Emily as the strongest Atlantic storm prior to August.

No need for hyperbole. Beryl has reset the early season Atlantic record book.

The Court ruling today is terrible but expected. I will just gently remind everyone that the election hasn’t happened yet. We shouldn’t assume the worst outcome as a foregone conclusion. That only encourages more apathy than many are already feeling.

FTC eventually gave up because the four managed to stonewall on discovery by hiding the fix in a proliferation of sacrificial brands to raise the barrier of entry for cereal startups. They didn’t breath easy until Alito, Roberts, and Thomas joined a 5-4 making price fixing impossible to prosecute.

Breakfast cereal is a funny MacGuffin in this thread because the F.T.C. has historically scrutinized the industry going back to the Nixon administration. If you feel “price fixing” specifically isn’t an issue then regulation works! I didn’t name that problem, you did. www.nytimes.com/1971/06/21/a...

The president is himself forever immune from prosecution for crimes committed using his official power, and he can pardon anyone for helping him to commit federal crimes, explicitly including an actions in furtherance of a coup to illegally hold onto the office of the presidency. That’s the upshot.

Kevin, you keep finding new ways to throw the same libertarian talking points at me, and it's not becoming more convincing with each iteration. If we left it to the free market then a bunch of Kevins and John Galts would collude to price fix everything, rolling back the economy to the McKinley era.
