Another miserable day working from home. Wearing comfortable clothes. Surrounded by all the things I could possibly need. Little dog sleeping by me. Every day this nightmare. I yearn for the office
I just don't understand how people can use the bathroom at home without coworkers in the stalls next to them and someone talking loudly on the phone walking around the room.
imagine instead of getting a deeper connection with my neighborhood and local shops i could instead just walk a circle around the parking lot a few times when i get tired
I miss sitting in a meeting next to someone who is coughing and sneezing and thinking, uh oh, and then getting sick and my whole family getting sick and my kid missing a week of school. That's the true power of the office. The interconnectedness, the sharing.
got up 5 minutes before work started. had lunch break in my living room hammock. did not have to wade through knee-deep snow before sunrise to commute to work. the coffee was affordable and exactly how i like it. wore yoga pants all day and got a load of laundry done while i was working. just awful.
Not having to be too hot or too cold... Fresh coffee whenever I want it… slippers or sandals... Sleep in and work later... Or start early and end early... Gardening during lunch or a walk with the dog...gosh… then there is life at a corporate office...🤷♀️
There was traffic* and an accident** on my commute from the kitchen to my home office. Waze didn't even try to warn me.

And think of the children! Why, with laws preventing them from working they too must exist in an even worse state - unproductive and not contributing to the Holy Economy.
Poor souls, they too yearn; for dangerous and underpaid work, that is. Not the office.
My deepest sympathies to you.
Have you not considered the 2 to 3 hours travelling to and from the flouro lit "open office plan because it's productive but it's actually just loud and distracting" where it's more difficult to focus on your job but at least you're being micromanaged by a pointless middle-manager!
Covid pretty much ruined WFH for me. Granted I have kids as well so it was a unique kind of hell. I have a job that's pretty close to me, but I definitely have learned to enjoy going into the office.
My office is also pretty great though and I legitimately like those I work with.
Haha, suckers.
I get all the office chairs and limited snack options!
And this isn't changing anytime soon. Call me privaliged, but at least I appreciate how good I got it.
so many invaluable moments are lost when you're not around your colleagues. the other day I asked "im gonna make some coffee, anybody want some?", and then one guy said "no" (the rest were wearing headsets, couldn't hear me), and then I said "alrighty". you miss out on that when working from home
You could be in the office right now, wearing uncomfortable clothes, swapping viruses with your colleagues, trying to concentrate while people around you gab, & dreading the hellish commute home instead. But you chose your current misery so I guess you’ll just have to buck up under the strain
I had to go into my office yesterday, it’s such a shame I am not able to come to this empty soulless void of a business park every day instead of just once or twice a week
Been in the office all day and only talked to people on Teams calls. I do have 2 coworkers in the office today, but haven't been able to talk to them, because they've been on Teams calls too. Ironically with each other! 🙄
my favorite part about the office is getting up 2 hours earlier - the 45 minute commute each way ($12 in gas) to sit in my office, speak to no one, use a public bathroom and pay $15 for lunch for no fucking good reason whatsoever. good times.
Good news! Management has heard your pleas and will be improving RTO by increasing in-office days from two to four. This will help us remain competitive in retaining our best colleagues.
Easy for you to say: my wife also works from home, so all day every day I'm surrounded by those I love most. Just an endless barrage of empathy and companionship. And no office politics, either.
Not sure how I've survived this long.
